Drunk Fireflies

My favorite camera is my Fuji X100. If you see only its front, it looks as if I had snagged it from my grandma. Great manual options and an excellent image quality.
A few days ago I played around with the exposure times and captured the nighttime lights (cars, streetlights, company signs). The more I moved the camera around while the aperture was open, the funnier the streaks of light on the images. Like drunk fireflies 😀
These images are unsorted. If you’d like to see them in the right order, look at my Facebook Gallery.

Joschka, the best cat

dlkk2010Some weeks ago, our cat Joschka had his 12th birthday. He has been a member of our family since 2002, and I guess we’ve taken thousands of photos of our furry friend. He even appeared as the Cover Boy Cat in the “Literary Cat Calendar” 😀
He’s a great model; no funny faces, no turning away and no yelling “wanna see!” – that’s how my son reacts to my camera…

Here are some of my favorite Joschka photos:

Faces in Places

I’m always on the lookout for faces, I can’t help it. Not “real” faces, though… My hubby thinks it’s hilarious when I suddenly stop to take out my camera and take pics of old door handles, rusty screws or fence posts. My imagination runs wild wherever I go, and you can see what I mean when you look at the newest photos in my  Instagram stream (I always add the hashtag #facesinplaces to my finds):

Last year I found the great digital freebie by Valorie Wibbens which is perfect for printing a double layout for each year:
